International health insurance plans will provide coverage for healthcare treatments even when you are outside of your country of residence. These plans will cover you wherever you go, making them suitable for expat employees from all corners of the world.

It’s important to note that many plans exclude US coverage due to the country’s high healthcare costs. Adding the US to the list of countries covered will significantly increase your plan’s premiums.

Individual health insurance plans are designed to provide coverage for only one person. If your name is under the plan, it will only cover your treatment costs. On the other hand, family health insurance plans will include all family members under one policy. Instead of having to pay for premiums separately, you’ll be paying for the premiums of one single plan that covers medical treatments for your entire family.

When you take out a health insurance policy, you should check which hospitals are on your insurer’s list of network providers. Health insurers will usually have special agreements with their network hospitals to offer direct billing services for you. In this case, the hospital will take care of all claims paper work for you without requiring you to file the claims yourself.
