This massive drop is in part due to its approach in handling the health emergency: restricting entry to most foreigners in a bid to keep the virus away.<\/p>\n<p>Whether it\u2019s having to meet eligibility criteria, get mandatory COVID-19 insurance, agree to a 14-day quarantine, and a whole host of other entry requirements, there are many hoops that you\u2019ll have to jump through before you can travel to Thailand. To top it off, the rules are ever-changing.<\/p>\n<p>As a health insurance broker, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacificprime.co.th\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pacific Prime Thailand<\/a> has been helping foreigners secure appropriate COVID-19 insurance policies over the course of the pandemic. As per the Royal Thai Embassy in London, you\u2019ll typically have to fall into one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/london.thaiembassy.org\/en\/publicservice\/119247-requirements-for-certificate-of-entry-during-travel-restriction?page=5d6636cd15e39c3bd00072dd&amp;menu=5f4b6eb3f6ae4b236972c562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">following categories<\/a>, although the list may vary depending on your origin country and as the pandemic develops:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Diplomats and officials of international organizations<\/li>\n<li>Work permit holders, those going to work, or those going for business<\/li>\n<li>Family members of Thai nationals (spouse\/children)<\/li>\n<li>Medical tourists<\/li>\n<li>Students in formal education at schools or university level<\/li>\n<li>Certificate of Residence holders<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacificprime.co.th\/blog\/long-stay-visa-and-private-health-insurance-in-thailand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Long stay visa holders<\/a> (Non-Immigrant O-A\/O-X)<\/li>\n<li>Elite card holders<\/li>\n<li>Property owners in Thailand<\/li>\n<li>Single-entry tourists<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As of now, visa on arrival and visa exemptions are not applicable. Additionally, there&#8217;s also a new Special Tourist Visa (STV) for specific countries. It\u2019s advisable to get in touch with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thailongstay.co.th\/stv_visa.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thailand Long Stay Company<\/a>, as they\u2019re a visa agency authorized to assist applicants with the STV.<\/p>\n<h2>What are the requirements for entering Thailand?<\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re eligible to enter Thailand, you can move on to the next step. For those who already hold a valid visa, you\u2019ll have to apply for a Certificate of Entry (COE) from your local Thai embassy or consulate. For those who don\u2019t already hold a valid visa, you\u2019ll have to apply for both the visa and the COE.<\/p>\n<h3>Certificate of Entry (COE)<\/h3>\n<p>The COE is a letter that allows you to enter Thailand, which you can apply for <a href=\"https:\/\/coethailand.mfa.go.th\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. In general, you should be aware of the following requirements:<\/p>\n<h4>Mandatory COVID-19 insurance<\/h4>\n<p>While this insurance has been compulsory since the start of the outbreak, the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) has now allowed the <a href=\"https:\/\/thethaiger.com\/coronavirus\/tat-announces-update-to-compulsory-covid-19-insurance-for-foreign-visitors#google_ads_iframe_\/21622890900\/TH_thethaiger.com_res_article_mid1_728x90\/\/300x250\/\/336x280_0:~:text=The%20Tourism%20Authority%20of%20Thailand%20has,find%20and%20purchase%20the%20compulsory%20insurance.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">review of its policy<\/a>, making it easier for you to find and buy the insurance <a href=\"https:\/\/covid19.tgia.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The two components of the insurance are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Medical expenses:<\/strong> There should be an insurance coverage of at least USD 100,000, so that you don\u2019t have to pay out-of-pocket medical expenses at hospitals in Thailand if you get COVID-19.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Life insurance compensation<\/strong>: In the event that there is death from COVID-19 infection, the insurer should also provide a life insurance compensation of USD 100,000 to your beneficiary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Premiums will be based on your origin country and cover periods of 30 days up to 12 months. Furthermore, the insurer should also issue you with a certificate after you\u2019ve secured the COVID-19 insurance policy. This will be one of the supporting documents for the COE.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Note:<\/em><\/strong><em> You may need other health insurance, in addition to the COVID-19 insurance. For instance, those on <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/london.thaiembassy.org\/en\/publicservice\/84508-non-immigrant-visas?page=5d6636cd15e39c3bd00072dd&amp;menu=5f4b6eb3f6ae4b236972c562#dropdownMenuButton3:~:text=month-,Copy%20of%20evidence%20stating%20that%20applicants%20have%20insurance%20as%20per%20stipulated%20by%20the%20Office%20of%20Insurance%20Commission%20and%20health%20insurance%20of%20Thailand%20which%20has%20insurance%20money%20for%20outpatient%20not%20less%20than%2040%2C000%20Baht%20and%20for%20inpatient%20not%20less%20than%20400%2C000%20Baht.%20Please%20check%20%3C%20http%3A%2F%2Flongstay.tgia.org%3E%20for,more%20information%20regarding%20the%20insurance%20requirement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Non-Immigrant O-A\/O-X visas<\/em><\/a><em> and <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/thaiembbeij.org\/th\/purpose_of_visit_rev\/special-tourist-visa-stv\/#menu-1-1416fdb:~:text=Thai%20Health%20insurance%20plan%20with%20minimum,the%20event%20that%20applicant%20contracts%20COVID%2D19.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>STV<\/em><\/a><em> will need health insurance with outpatient coverage of at least THB 40,000 and inpatient coverage of at least THB 400,000.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h4>Flight bookings<\/h4>\n<p>There may also be restrictions on the <a href=\"https:\/\/london.thaiembassy.org\/en\/publicservice\/application-for-certificate-of-entry-to-thailand-for-non-thai-nationa?page=5d6636cd15e39c3bd00072dd&amp;menu=5f4b6eb3f6ae4b236972c562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">airline you can use to fly to the country<\/a>. Therefore, you\u2019re strongly advised to check this before making a booking. You can buy tickets directly from the airline or through travel agencies.<\/p>\n<h4>Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) hotel booking<\/h4>\n<p>Based on your requirements and budgets, you can <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsscovid.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">browse and select the hotel\/facility<\/a> where you\u2019d like to carry out your 14-day quarantine. You\u2019ll need to make bookings directly with the hotel\/facility.<\/p>\n<h3>Health requirements<\/h3>\n<p>Other health requirements you\u2019ll have to meet before you\u2019ll be allowed to travel to Thailand are as follows:<\/p>\n<h4>COVID-19 negative test<\/h4>\n<p>You\u2019ll need to do a <a href=\"https:\/\/london.thaiembassy.org\/en\/publicservice\/119247-requirements-for-certificate-of-entry-during-travel-restriction?page=5d6636cd15e39c3bd00072dd&amp;menu=5f4b6eb3f6ae4b236972c562#dropdownMenuButton3:~:text=COVID%2D19%20test%20result%2C%20with%20a%20laboratory%20output%20indicating%20that%20COVID%20%2D19%20is%20not%20detected%20(COVID%20test%20must%20be%20by%20RT%2DPCR%20method)%2C,issued%20within%2072%20hours%20before%20departure,-A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COVID-19 test<\/a> using the RT-PCR method. The test must show a laboratory output indicating that COVID-19 isn\u2019t detected. It must be issued within 72 hours of your departure to Thailand.<\/p>\n<h4>Fit to fly certificate<\/h4>\n<p>The \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/london.thaiembassy.org\/en\/publicservice\/application-for-certificate-of-entry-to-thailand-for-non-thai-nationa?page=5d6636cd15e39c3bd00072dd&amp;menu=5f4b6eb3f6ae4b236972c562#dropdownMenuButton3:~:text=3.%20Fit%20to%20Fly%20health%20certificate%2C,(must%20be%20separate%20from%20COVID%20test)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fit to fly\u2019 certificate<\/a> is separate from the COVID-19 test. It is a statement by a doctor that you\u2019re free from symptoms and are fit to fly. It must also be issued within 72 hours of your departure.<\/p>\n<h3>Thailand immigration and tracking<\/h3>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve landed in Thailand, there are a few more things you\u2019ll need to do before you\u2019re free to wander the country as you please, in addition to carrying out your 14-day quarantine.<\/p>\n<h4>T.8 form<\/h4>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacificprime.co.th\/blog\/what-is-a-health-declaration-t-8-form-in-thailand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">T.8 or health declaration form<\/a> must be presented to authorities upon arrival in Thailand. Apart from personal information like name, nationality, passport number, and contact details, you\u2019ll also have to let authorities know of any symptoms you&#8217;ve had in the last two weeks.<\/p>\n<h4>Thailand Plus app<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To help officials track the whereabouts of visitors more precisely, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thethaiger.com\/coronavirus\/new-thailand-plus-app-for-tourists-will-help-officials-track-their-whereabouts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thailand Plus app<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been developed.
